Alter ServersServers are an important ministry to the parish. They help to prepare for Mass, assist during Mass, and help after Mass. Being a server is an honor; and requires a strong commitment from both the server and the server’s parents. You must be in the 5th grade or higher, be baptized, have received their First Holy Communion and attend Mass every Sunday. All servers must go through training prior to serving.
Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers
The Bishop of Covington commissions Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. They assist the priest at Mass with the distribution of Holy Communion in accordance with guidelines set forth by the Church and the Diocese. They may also assist in the distribution of Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.
Liturgical Lector Ministry
As proclaimers of the word of God in Scripture, lectors are very important to the liturgical life of the Church. “In Sacred Scripture, the Church constantly finds her nourishment and her strength, for she welcomes it not as a human word, ‘but as what it really is, the word of God’” (Dei Verbum 24).
